The Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw. IV), commonly known as the "Panzer IV", was a medium tank developed in Nazi Germany in the late 1930s, entered service in 1937 and used extensively during the Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 161. It was a well rounded tank, and was a difficult opponent for the Allied Sherman and Stuart tanks. It was, however, has difficulties dealing with Russian T-34-85 or heavier tanks. During the early days of the war, this tank was greatly feared by the allies, since it was almost unstoppable.
Its armaments are PaK 39 75mm High Velocity gun (at least in later models), a MG 34 coaxial machinegun mounted in the gunner's position to the right of the driver, an additional MG 34 located on the turret next to to the main gun, and an MG 42 can be mounted on the top of the turret, and used by the turret operator. The both sides of the vehicle can add armor skirts for extra protection, though not seen in game.
In Hell's Highway, Panzer IV is less dangerous than the FlaK 36, but still poses a serious threat to your squad. Your Sherman Firefly needs at least 2 cannon shots to kill a Panzer IV, or 4~7 Bazooka rockets, if the Bazooka round strikes the rear of the tank, it will be knocked out in one hit. Make sure you put your teams in good cover, because one cannon round can wipe out the whole squad. Strangely, the Panzer IV seems never use its frontal MG 34, thus its only armament is its 75mm main cannon. In Road to Hill 30/Earned in Blood, the Panzer IV is one of your worst enemies, one cannon shot is enough to kill most or all of your squad members or mow down most of your health. You will need a Panzerfaust, Bazooka or your M4A1 Sherman tank to knock them out quickly. It is much more dangerous than Stug III assault gun, because it has an MG 34 on its chassis and a rotating turret, don't fight it without firepower and a good cover. Along with all enemy vehicles, avoid being run over by Panzer IV at all costs, if this happens to you or your teammate, it is instant death.
- In EiB, sometimes after you kill the tank commander, he will still alive after the tank is knocked out.
