The M1911A1 Colt .45 pistol was in use throughout the First World War and issued during the Second World War, the Korean War and Vietnam, and continued officially in service until 1983. Newer models of this weapon are still used in today's military. In Brothers in Arms, the player wields two versions or this weapon, the standard issue M1911 and the Colt given to Baker by his father before his death, nickle plated and inscribed.
